Wolf Cinema logo

Founded by Sumiko in 2008, Wolf Cinema is a privately held company headquartered in Berkeley, California.   Quite simply the company manufacturers some of the finest home cinema imaging solutions available today, with advanced video imaging technologies and core light engines that represent the pinnacle of home cinema excellence!

From the very beginning performance goals for Wolf Cinema were to produce the most natural appearing images possible.   Thus, you will find custom gamma curves that better deliver the look of film.   Gamma is a term used to describe an electrical compensation curve not unlike that achieved in audio using equalization.   This picture "equalization" is necessary to accurately transfer image quality from the initial camera-whether film or digital-to the final output via the projector.   Engineers measured film gamma curves and imported them into each Wolf projector; the result is spectacularly natural looking images.   There's even a gamma curve for Black & White film, which is separate and distinct from color film! Wolf Cinema describes this special attribute as "filmic"!

Wolf Cinema projectors achieve their razor sharp images via Wolf Cinema VariScope™ primary optics technology providing constant height, ultra-widescreen viewing without the need for a separate and/or external anamorphic lens.   With the touch of a button, you can quickly select from multiple aspect ratios such as 16:9 [1.78:1] when viewing television content, or quickly resize to watch 1.85:1 aspect ratio films, enjoy breathtaking 2.20:1 aspect ratio movies and even switch to view today's most popular 2.35:1/2.40:1 films on a constant height, ultrawide aspect ratio CinemaScope home theater screen!

In addition most consumer-grade projectors utilize a UHP (Ultra-High-Pressure) lamp, however, these light sources simply cannot compete with Xenon for color accuracy or longevity.   Xenon is the only manmade light source closest to the spectral distribution of natural sunlight.   Natural in light quality, there's a reason why Xenon has been exclusively specified in both optical film projectors and professional digital cinema projectors for the past decade.   Thus, Wolf Cinema projectors make exclusive use of Xenon for the same reasons; they provide the most color-accurate light source available!

Sony logo

Originally Masaru Ibuka, (Sony´s Co-Founder), repaired radios and made shortwave converters that could easily make medium-wave radios into super-heterodyne, or all-wave receivers.   Because of a communications "starved" environment, demand for these radios increased rapidly.   Repairing radios also brought an extra reward as often rice was received from houses visited on service calls.   In post World War II Japan rice was actually a treasured commodity during a time of serious food shortages so Ibuka´s factory also began working on an electric rice cooker.   Unfortunately, the electric rice cooker depended heavily on the kind of rice used and the weight of the water as the cooker produced mostly undercooked or overcooked rice.   It was a memorable first failure for Ibuka and his staff.

Nevertheless, on May 7, 1946 in Tokyo, Japan, with only their intelligence and engineering know-how, Ibuka and his engineers set about creating new products for un-tapped markets with basically no machinery and very little scientific equipment.   Masaru Ibuka simply told his ardent young engineers, "Today our small company has made its start.   With its superior technologies and spirit of perfect unity, the company will grow.   As it does so, we can certainly make a contribution to society."   With that, the Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha (Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation) was born.   The Sony name (brand) - which is a conflation of Sonus, the Latin word for ´sound´ and Sonny (as in ´young boy´) - first appeared in 1955.   Thus, Tokyo Tsushin Kokyo, (aka., Totsuko), became The Sony Corporation.

Suffice it to say Sony´s fledgling beginnings and storied historical impact on the Consumer Electronics (CE) market really needs no introduction.

severtson logo

Severtson Screens is a global leader in projection screen technology and is known throughout the world for excellent quality projection screens.   Severtson developed an exceptional reflective coating for screens in flight simulators, and started in 1986 with its first job at Arizona’s own Williams Air Force Base.

Working late each night in the family kitchen the company’s founder, Ron Severtson, not only solved the technical problem of uniformly coating a domed surface, he created a product that had the reflective properties the Air Force needed for its simulator program to be successful.

Demand for Severtson’s product soon had the company working for large corporations and military organizations in over 40 countries.   In the early 1990’s a contract with IMAX Corporation brought Severtson Corporation into the cinema screen industry.   In 1998 Severtson Corporation applied its optical coatings to the world’s largest cinema screen (103’ x 129’) in Sydney, Australia.   In 2003 Severtson Corporation launched its own line of Home Theater/Pro AV screens.   Beginning in 2009 Severtson Corporation became a full-service cinema screen manufacturer.   Its low rejection rate coupled with the high quality of all its products has made Severtson Corporation the industry standard for quality and customer service worldwide.   In 2019, with continued growth and the need for a location to expand its headquarters and manufacturing capabilities, Severtson Screens moved into a larger campus in San Tan Valley, Arizona.

The combined experience of building small home theater screens and large cinema screens has given Severtson Corporation the expertise to meet the needs of the Pro AV market for both professional indoor applications as well as large outdoor venues.   Celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2021, Severtson Corporation continues to be a global leader in innovation and quality, including its new folded technologies for cinema screens.

From its unlikely origins in the family kitchen to today's modern campus encompassing multiple production operations, Severtson Corporation has remained committed to the principles of innovation and uncompromising quality that have made them who they are today: the industry standard for excellence and unsurpassed customer service worldwide.
